At least three times a week I walk my black Labrador along the banks of the river Wandle, we pass the impressive Morden Hall Wedding Venue with its spacious garden and immaculate flower beds. My dog loves to swim in the river in front of the lawn sometimes chasing ducks which he never catches.
Today I was here on my own to meet Annabel and Jonny. As a local photographer I know the venue very well and have shot many weddings there. They had hired the venue for the whole day and so wanted me there all day as well.
Both families had helped with the preparations, one of Annabel’s aunts had created the stunning flower arrangements and a good friend of her mums made the cake, which unfortunately started to lean towards the end of the day due to the heat, it tasted delicious though!
I got to work, to start to document the day as it unfolded to create a narrative of their day.
I ended up taking more photographs than usual as there was so much happening but the highlight for me was the dance floor. Their guests new how to dance and there was such a wide variation of ages and dance moves. This was my favourite part of the day, the DJ played classic Beatles hits and the dance floor was full! More great 60s hits were to follow and the floor was rammed even more!
As I was leaving, Please, Please Me was still ringing in my ears and whenever I hear that Beatle’s song it takes back to Annabel and Jonny’s fabulous wedding and the guest’s wacky dance moves!!
